There was also a keyhole element in the back which was masterfully designed by Wed Studio, as the opening wanted to work against the purpose of the corset – to cinch. I was really pleased we managed to figure that out.”

Olivia Buxton
Click to read more on VogueAmy Trinh and Evan Phillips hadn’t planned on specialising in bridalwear when they enrolled at Central Saint Martins, however they quickly realised the huge potential for a fashion-forward label that parts from traditions. Fast forward to 2023 and Wed, their bridalwear label, challenges any preconceived notions of what a wedding dress should look like, by creating de-constructed designs using off-cuts and vintage gowns. It has become a firm favourite for those within the industry who are looking to design a wedding outfit that is the opposite of a princess dress – including Olivia Buxton Smith, the fashion editor of the styling game and shoppable app Drest, who worked with the duo to create a clever multi-use look that she can actually wear again.

Isabel Bonner
Click to read more on VogueFast forward to this summer, and the couple finally got to have the wedding of their dreams. But, of course, it was important for Bonner to find the right dress. After trying on a handful of designer pieces, the bride decided she wanted something custom-made by eco-conscious London-based label Wed Studio, with whom she worked closely on the design. “I love Wed’s avant-garde take on wedding dresses, it’s so special,” she says. “The silhouette was inspired by my mum’s dress when she married my dad in the ’80s. I wanted to feel hot in it, so we did a boned corset and left it quite minimal with a full skirt. It was all about incorporating my favourite details with the brand’s signatures.”

Holly Ladd
Holly's custom dress emerged from a dynamic process of "Client Creative Collaboration," seamlessly uniting two archival skirt details to craft a captivatingly layered and asymmetric ensemble. This creation also featured an elegant off-the-shoulder strap and a signature ruched bodice, adding to its unique charm.
